The Autism Diet

Some children with High Functioning Autism can develop severe food allergies. Wheat is the most common. Shel Fish is can be very serious. The parent will restrict the child from the food they are allergic to. The child can get stressed out for the restriction of food. Their brain can over think and think that they can't eat anything. The temper tantrums can get wild. This is where the therapist steps in. Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy (ABA)  can help. They are a mix of occupational therapy and regular school. The one-on-one specialist has a perfect idea of the child issues and level.

  1. I had no idea that Autistic children develop food allergies. I did hear that certain restrictive diets can have a positive affect on their behavior. Fascinating!
